Setting Goals – Let’s Get Serious!

ambitionSeriously…..setting goals, and more so achieving them, can be daunting. I used to ‘fly by the seat of my pants’ as so many people like to do, but you know what? That doesn’t work when I have goals I want to achieve. I have been working on personal change and improvement for 2 years now, and setting future goals is something I wish I had paid a lot more attention to when I was young.

I want to reach goals such as:

  • Running a 5K race
  • Improving eating habits
  • Downsizing my home and creating a capsule wardrobe and living only with what I need
  • Building my Juice Plus+ business and helping to change the lives of others
  • Reclaiming my time and spending it on priorities first, then fun, etc.

WHAT KINDS OF GOALS DO YOU WANT TO ACHIEVE?

I’ve found it very positive and grounding recently to set some goals. I am looking at short term and long term goals.  I have started lists for 1 year & 5 year goals to help me gain some perspective on where my life is headed and how I will get there. This way I can break down my big goals ( I have a list of 5) into smaller pieces which I can work towards in the short term.

Every action we take should be a positive action towards completing our goals.

If you’re like me, you may have a really full schedule where you find it difficult to fit things in, or even achieve the things on your to do list. Well, there’s good news! If we focus on our priorities, and working towards our goals, the important things are going to get done first. If you have ‘Spare Time’, then do some non goal oriented things. I say ‘Spare Time’ because I don’t have any. Any time I do something non goal oriented it’s because I’m neglecting my goals to do whatever it is I felt like doing.

Sometimes I feel the need to put off the ‘Should Do’s’ for the ‘Want To Do’s’…….It can be overwhelming to feel like you are working on priorities all of the time…….unless of course, you WANT to.

Why would anyone not want to improve their life?

I often wonder that. I want to improve my life more than anything, but my lack of dedication to this task has left me not reaching my goals. I have been experimenting with to do lists, and ways to keep track of things. I found that the more I organize myself and stay on top of things, the simpler and easier everything gets done. I actually like this now, and WANT to stay organized, because it makes my life so much easier and more enjoyable. And it gets me one step closer to my goals.

How do you stay on top of your goals?

I’d love to hear from you on your experience and advice, or join me on my journey of self improvement! 🙂
